To be a professional interpreting guide

I’ve been attending the Kagawa Setouchi Region Interpreting Guide Course which started on September 15th.

The course consists of two terms, and each term has three days. We can take lectures on various themes and do on-site training.

It’s a great opportunity to get in touch with many people who share the same passion for becoming a professional interpreting guide who can work in Kagawa prefecture. I’m surprised to see there are so many people who participate in the course.

We are lucky enough to be given precious instructions by eminent figures in the field. Also, the participants have various backgrounds. But all of us share the same spirit of hospitality. We are willing to support foreign tourists so that they can appreciate the beautiful culture and rich nature in Kagawa.

Many years have passed since I guided foreign tourists last time. I had to give up the job to focus on taking care of my children. But this time my family members are helping me to pursue my dream again.

I’m so happy to be one of the participants. The lecturers’ speeches are very informative, and the instructor who has the national certificate of interpreting guide has abundant experiences.

They make me think of the true meaning of hospitality, and how an interpreting guide is expected to behave to respond to diversified demands.

It’s also very interesting to visit many tourists spots together with them and exchange our knowledge and thoughts. I personally like arts very much, so visiting my Naoshima again is a fascinating activity for me particularly.

I could not attend the first day of the former term to attend the sports day of my children, so I must write essays on three subjects in a week to compensate for  my absence. I hope I can make it despite my hard schedule.

I’m dreaming of the day when I’m working as an interpreting guide again, maybe in English. It is my non-ordinariness and small escape from monotonous daily routines.
